Hatishila is a picnic spot that is situated in the banks of the river Brahmaputra.The name Hatishila is derived from ‘hati’ meaning Elephant in Assamese
and ‘shila’ meaning stone. There are two stones here in the place which
resembles the tusk of an elephant. Previously a virgin territory, this place was unexplored and now people visit this place for a wonderful time with friends and family. With the river side sands giving the spot a rather wonderful location and the cool breeze blowing by the river, gives this place a rather amazing feel making it even more popular amongst the people.
Kulsi is situated about 40 kms away from Guwahati. This place is a beautiful place for the primary reason that river dolphins can be seen here. Around the world only four types of river dolphins exist and one of these species is found here in India. The Kulsi River is a popular picnic spot now and has developed as a eco-tourism spot with 30 odd freshwater dolphins being a major attraction. People can even take boat rides here while enjoying the sight of the beautiful river dolphins. The place is in the rural areas but the people here are humble and there to guide as well.
