Dhabas in SonapurSanjay, my brother who turned 26 last Sunday, asked me midnight about his birthday gift. I told him this time his gift was a grand treat at highway dhaba in Sonapur from my end. Sanjay, very delighted, slept sound to wake up in the morning for the birthday treat. On his birthday, as promised, we left for the much expected drive to Sonapur which is located just at a drive of 40 kms from Guwahati. And thankfully, the weather was at its best that day and with that pleasant weather we started our journey.
After a pleasurable journey on the highway we reached our destination of Highway City Dhaba. It was already time for lunch as we reached the dhaba. We occupied a small area decorated with bamboo as it looked cosy and congenial to us. Washing our hands and sitting comfortably, we started our day's business of ordering food. Chicken clear soup was followed by crispy chilli potato and chicken dry fry. Sanjay, overjoyed with the taste of the starter, could not resist more and instantly ordered the main course. At first we thought we could not finish the meal served to us but the soft butter Nan accompanied by chicken bharta and chicken angara was too hard for us to waste! Chicken fried rice served with chicken kadhai and mutton curry was way too delicious to be left unfinished.
As Sonapur is situated 32 kms from Guwahati, you can easily think of celebrating your birthdays, hanging out with friends or simply take your family for a lunch or dinner and relish fine dhaba delicacies Sonapur which play host to dhabas. Sonapur is a popular destination for city people for recreation. You can have fun times in the dhabas which offer scrumptious food. Other than Sonapur dhabas you can also have a great time in dhabas lined up across National Highway 37 such as Delicacy Dhaba, Delight Dhaba, Highway City Dhaba, Highway Dhaba, Punjabi Dhaba, Changsari Dhaba near North Guwahati, Shiva Highway Dhaba, new City Dhaba, Dhaba Nishita, Wild East Dhaba, Dhaba Y2K, Sunrise Dhaba, Dhaba-The Pleasure and Dharitri.
Dhaba culture has, with time, caught the attention of people. There are a certain lot of people who do not like visiting 5 star hotels or restaurants, but are comfortable eating in dhabas. As to them dhabas are the places where they can sit, chat and eat comfortably as they do at home. Whatever be the reason, dhabas serving the best food has no alternative.
